TEACHING

Since Ilya's prize-winning performances in the 1990's, he has taken time to study, explore new repertoire, and experiment at the piano. His deep interest in the connections between technique and the realization of music underscores every aspect of his teaching style. Ilya's teaching draws from these inquiries coupled with his years of study in Russia, and his extensive, worldwide, experience as soloist and collaborative artist.

Ilya has prepared many of his students for successful entrance into conservatories throughout the world including: The Julliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Peabody Institute of Music and the CUNY Graduate Program. His students have competed in and taken top prizes in numerous international competitions including: The Tchaikovsky Competition, The Chopin Competition in Warsaw, The Gina Bachauer Competition, The Cleveland Competition, The Canadian National Competition, Korea's Isang Yun Competition and The Dublin International Competition.

Ilya has given masterclasses throughout the USA including in Portland, Miami, New York, Princeton, Rochester, Boston; throughout Asia, including in Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai and throughout Europe. He teaches in collaboration with the chair of the piano department at The Julliard School, and is on the Piano Faculty of the Graduate Program at the City University,(CUNY), of New York, The Golandsky Institute, Princeton and the Musashino Academia Musicae, Tokyo.
